Program information

During a period of nine weeks, students will work full-time in a research project, will participate in weekly seminars and workshops, and will attend regular group meetings in their research labs. The program concludes with the students presenting their research findings during the REU Summer Symposium.

Program dates: May 28 - July 27, 2018

Support

Participants will be provided with a double-occupancy dorm room and round-trip travel funding. Participants will also receive a $4500 stipend.

Eligibility

  • Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Students must be rising sophomores, juniors or seniors at the start of the program.
  • Students must be U. S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • We strongly encourage students from underrepresented minorities groups and students with disabilities, to apply.

Aplication process

Students interested in participating in the program must complete the online application which includes identifying two faculty members to provide a letter of recommendation. Applicants may submit the application with an unofficial transcript, but an official copy from their current institution must be sent to Dr. Carmen Rawls, listed below, by February 19,2018. 

Applications open on December 15, 2017.

Preference will be given to applications received by February 19, 2018.
